Our return cross-country road trip rolled us straight into Bowling Green, Kentucky—and naturally, we couldn’t pass through Corvette country without pulling over at the National Corvette Museum. After all, what’s a stop in Bowling Green without a little horsepower, history, and glossy fiberglass? Sure, you can wander among the many legendary Corvettes—and honestly, that alone is worth the detour—but the museum has plenty more under the hood than just beautiful cars.

So what else can you do there?

·       Tour the assembly plant. This is where the museum experience shifts from cool to unforgettable. You get to watch Corvettes come to life right before your eyes, moving down the line from bare chassis to sleek, road-ready machine. It’s part factory tour, part behind-the-scenes magic show. Our guide told us the plant produces about 95 Corvettes a day, and on the day we visited, every single one on the line had already been sold. Even better, the assembly-line computer system matches each buyer’s custom choices to their exact car, so every vehicle rolling past feels like someone’s dream being built in real time.

·       Grab lunch at the Stingray Grill. After soaking up all that Corvette history, this is the perfect pit stop to refuel. And trust us—on our third visit to the museum, we knew exactly what we were doing when we arrived hungry. The food is genuinely delicious, the prices are surprisingly reasonable, and it’s the kind of easy, satisfying meal that makes the whole visit feel even more memorable.

· Stop by The Corvette StoreThis is where “just browsing” goes to die—in the best possible way. One minute you’re admiring a T-shirt, and the next you’re debating jackets, glasses, cups, jewelry, and about five other things you suddenly absolutely need. It has that kid-in-a-candy-store energy, only with more chrome and cross-flags. Can’t decide what to buy? Follow the Pete & Lori method: embrace the moment and walk out with a big bag of Corvette goodies.

·       Dreaming a little bigger? If you’ve got deep pockets and a Corvette on your wish list, this place might just tip you from “someday” to “where do I sign?” For a few extra bucks, you can choose museum delivery and pick up your brand-new Corvette right here in Bowling Green, fresh from the source. Imagine sliding behind the wheel, pointing that beauty toward home, and rolling into your neighborhood like you just brought home a piece of American automotive legend. Driveway envy? Practically guaranteed.

·       And then there’s the “pièce de resistance”: the museum’s own 3.2-mile racetrack. This is the moment where admiring Corvettes turns into actually feeling one come alive beneath you. Slide into a C8 Corvette, grip the wheel, and take on four adrenaline-packed laps of curves, straightaways, and pure engine growl. It’s fast, loud, thrilling, and absolutely the kind of experience you’ll still be talking about long after the road trip is over. Fair warning: after four laps of that kind of horsepower, you may find yourself walking right back into the museum and seriously wondering how quickly you can order a Corvette of your own. The video link to our experience is above at the top of the newsletter.

Unforgettable!!

Honestly, we could keep talking about this place for pages—but we’ll spare you the full Corvette love letter. Just know this: if the National Corvette Museum is on your road-trip route, don’t treat it like a quick photo stop. Between the museum, the assembly plant, the grill, the store, and that unforgettable racetrack experience, you’ll want to give yourself the whole day. This is one of those places where “we’ll just pop in for a little while” can very easily turn into “where did the day go?”
